During the first couple of weeks after quitting smoking, it’s especially helpful to remember about choosing for now when you talk to others about your smoking. If you have kept the whole thing quiet (which is what I would recommend), it might be a while before they catch on to what you are doing. As you can probably now see, the longer you keep quiet about having stopped, the better.

Sooner or later, though, someone will notice that you haven’t been smoking and they might ask you directly if you’ve stopped -or even want to know how to quit smoking themsleves. It’s going to be best for you to say something that doesn’t make you feel as though you’ve made a permanent commitment. Say something like: ‘Well, I’m cutting down, I don’t know if I’ll stop,’ or ‘I might have one later.’ It doesn’t matter what they think. What matters is that you have kept in touch with your choices. So far, so good. You haven’t locked yourself into one, irrevocable decision.

If you go around telling everybody you’ve stopped smoking, you can create a stronger sense of being trapped into not smoking, which is disastrous for your motivation. Their pressure on you to stay stopped will act to enhance your sense of deprivation, and that’s the very last thing you need.

Other people can put the pressure on in the most innocent ways, even by saying things like: ‘Good for you!’ or ‘Keep it up!’ If you are feeling deprived, you might want to hit them! It’s also likely you’ll find yourself close to lighting up a cigarette. It’s just as if they are telling you that you can’t ever smoke again, so all you want to do is rebel to assert your freedom.

The first thing people need to get about stopping cigarettes and quitting weed are not the same. When you quit cigarettes your body will have yearnings as you will be addicted to the chemical in them which is nicotine. This addiction is physical and the cravings can be really distracting until you have a smoke.
There is no chemical addiction in Marijuana, people actually become used to the “high” feeling from smoking it, so therefore this is a psychological addiction. The body won’t have the same yearnings and the reason for it being hard to quit is because you don’t want subconsciously.
Even though you will not be addicted physically you will still find it tough to give up because a psychological addiction such as this or gambling would normally be down to weaknesses or personal issues as to why you keep returning to this addiction. It’s not to say you have no willpower, it usually requires a deeper look into the reasons for smoking in the first place.
The reasons to quit smoking weed are plentiful. You should need to learn how to quit smoking weed and move on with your life.
